Amy Fuentes-Rojas is a first generation American, born with Mexican and Peruvian roots. Born and raised in Alexandria, VA, She was the first in her family to attend college for a couple semesters, before realizing that something was missing. Despite getting A's and B's in all her college classes, and graduating her private high school with honors, she dropped out of college to find her calling.
Amid soul searching, she found herself working at a salon, where she apprenticed to become a licensed cosmetologist. She learned a great deal about how to run a business by assisting the salon owner with day-to-day tasks, how to treat clients with kindness, be willing to serve, and how to manage the team of stylists in the salon. She knew then, that owning a traditional salon was not for her, mostly due to the drama that came from the stylists alone. But what she eventually found out, was that her passion for hair was always within her, seeking the best outlet. While apprenticing, she worked in homes of friends and family to gain hands-on experience before working on the salon floor. Her work was detailed even then, as she considers herself a perfectionist. Word of mouth spread, and before she knew it, she could not handle mobile calls on her own. Thus began the journey of adding stylists that shared her passion, talent and hunger for knowledge of all things beauty. And just like that, Stylist To Go was born!
That was 12 years ago. She now lives in DC, has a beautiful family of 3 small children, and a most supportive husband that aids in new business ideas and execution. Her team of over 15 trained and talented stylists are such a blessing to her business, she is eternally grateful for their commitment to the team.
Her mind constantly brainstorms on improving the client and stylist experience. She's excited for whats to come, and loves having her loyal clients cheer her on.
